Nature macrophotography contest 2013 rules
Nature macrophotography contest organized for the promotion of macrophotography, to draw attention to the life of insects, to protect them.
Any person, registered in “Macroclub.ru”, can take part in the nature macrophotography contest 2013.
By submitting his works to the contest, each author agrees to the contest rules.
Any work, which violates contest rules, will be removed from the gallery.
Term:
Accepting photographs: from 1 May to 15 November 2013 inclusive. The photographs will be placed in the gallery of the contest and until the semi-finals selection will be visible only to members of the selection committee.
The selection of works for semi-finals: from 15 November to 20 November 2013 inclusive. Works of semi-finalists will be visible to all participants of the competition.
The selection of works-winners: from 20 November to 30 November 2013 inclusive.
Winners will be announced on December 5, 2013.
Contest themes:
1. "Spiders weave lace" by Aliona Shevtsova
Each participant can submit up to 5 photographs. On these photographs must be present spiders web. The web should be the main character of these works.
2. "Living near and in the water" by Sergey Talanov (Grey).
Each participant can submit up to 5 photographs. The purpose is to show the moment of macro object`s life, who lives near or in the water.
Serial theme:
"One day of life" by Stas Shinkarenko
Each participant can submit up to 2 series of 5 photographs. We accept series of 5 photographs, representing one day of a macroobject life. In other words, all actions that can do this macroobject during the day. The same with the plants, for example: flower opens in the morning, flew pollinators, it has rained, the flower closes in the night, etc. Filming process can take more than one day, but the result should look like a shot in one day with the same object.
Premieres themes:
1. Video by Alexander Veres (internity).
Each participant can submit up to 3 videos. Specifications: length of 1 to 3 min, resolution at least of 1280x720 pix. Audio portion must not violate copyright, in other words, it is prohibited to use copyrighted audio files.
2. Time-lapse by Alexander Veres (internity).
Each participant can submit up to 3 macrovideos using interval shooting. Interval or time-lapse filming is a technique in which realize shooting of same object at the same point at regular intervals. Time-lapse filming fits for slow running processes. Intervals may last from a fraction of a second to hours and even days. Series of photographs arranges with video editor and mounts in video film.
Specifications: length of 1 to 3 min, resolution at least of 1280x720 pix. Audio portion must not violate copyright, in other words, it is prohibited to use copyrighted audio files.
Requirements for works:
- Photographs submitted to the contest must be made in the open air;
- Photographs submitted to the contest must be made personally;
- The photograph must be of good quality;
- Maximum size of photographs submitted to the contest - 500 Kb, the linear dimensions of 800 pixels and a maximum of 1200 pixels on the long side;
- Photographs must be in .jpg, .jpeg format;
- - Photographs and videos should be taken only in 2013 and not displayed earlier in "MacroClub.ru".
Allowed adjustments:
- Removal dust spots;
- Removal chromatic aberrations;
- Removal of background noise (in moderate amounts);
- Levels correction (in moderate amounts);
- Curves correction (in moderate amounts);
- Color correction (in moderate amounts);
- Saturation (in moderate amounts);
- Shadows and highlights (in moderate amounts);
- Framing (in moderate amounts);
- Stacking to increase depth of field.
We do not accept:
- Photographs and videos bigger than allowed size;
- Photographs and videos with copyright;
- Photographs with frames;
Prohibited:
- To submit same or similar photographs in different categories;
- To submit photographs which represent dead creatures;
- Photomontage, removing of large parts of image.
Authors will retain all rights to their submit photographs. The organisators reserve the right to use submitted works for exhibitions with author`s name designation.
Authors can delete or replace submitted photographs during the period of reception (from 1 May to 15 November 2013. Inclusive).
During the judging (from November 15 to November 30, inclusive) deleting of works is prohibited.
After the end of the contest, deleting of the winning photographs is prohibited (only with permission of contest administration, and there must be a significant reason).
Judging:
- Judges can not to participate in the contest by submitting photographs;
- Complete list of the judges will be published later;
- The jury will select the winning work and two works will receive a special mark of the jury;
- The jury reserves the right to ask the original (source) photograph and disqualify contestant who are unable submit this photograph in three days upon request;
- Jury institutes an “Audience Award” in each category, which will be determined by quantity of votes of “Macroclub.ru” members. One member can vote for only one photograph in each category.
Selection committee includes winners of the nature macrophotography contest 2012 and the authors of contest themes selected by voting. (Authors of the chosen theme may take part in the contest, but they do not participate in the second round).
All submitted photographs will be judged anonymously in the semi-finals and finals.
All your questions must be sent to the administration of the contest.
Prizes:
First place winners and authors of remarked works will be rewarded with certificates.
First place winners in each category also will be rewarded by valuable prizes.
The list of prizes will be published later.
No prize substitution or cash redemption allowed by winner.
First place winners in each category (except for the prize "Audience Award") shall be within the period from 5 December to 30 December 2013 inclusive prepare a portfolio of his portrait and the ten most successful works, a link to which will be posted on the main page "MacroClub". Link to the portfolio of winners will be on the main page until the beginning of submission photographs for the nature macrophotography contest 2014.
